Lots of progress this week


PROGRESS

Welcome to my devlog. This week I made a lot of progress with Rice Wars. As you can see on the gif, I implemented particle effects, improved the UI, tweaked the enemy spawning system and added a "blood" splatter.

I'm starting to truely understand how important polish is to game design. So much development time is dedicated to making the game feel fun and responsive. 

This week I learned a lot about the Unity particle system. This component is way deeper than I thought. the possibilities are endless.  I also learned how to add a camera shake, as well as blood splatters, which little by little, make the game feel more alive.

THINGS TO IMPROVE

- fix the wave counter

- add an "enemy killed" counter

- add a boss (I already have a few sketches ready).

- add music and sound effects

This game is coming along nicely and I'm looking forward to the next version.
