Finishing my 2nd platforming game
What I learned
For this project I learned how to use Affinity Designer, which is a great alternative to photoshop and it works well on my laptop.
I also learned more about Unity, especially how to improve my character's jump and how to make more interesting levels thanks to the many physics2D components. The limited time of 1 month really forced me to get creative and not overthink.
I tried to keep the game simple and fun in order to polish it as much as possible.
I'm quite happy with the final result. This game is definitely an improvement over my previous one.
Challenges
There are still many things I don't know about game development. I need to improve in these areas :
- programming, c# and general programming concepts
- unity, keep learning and improving my workflow
- drawing environments. For this game I only used basic shapes and a few props but I should draw more in the future.
That's it for this month, let me know what you think of the game in the comments.
